Towards the end of December I rolled out out my top 10 albums of 2017 list on Instagram which reimagined each album as a match book/box. Every day that I shared a new box, someone different would message me asking how I was creating these. The same thing happened last year as I rolled out the stamps for the 2016 list, and I wrote out a few explanations via direct message to help a few people out, but I felt that doing the same this year wouldn’t be quite as helpful. So I decided to make a process video.
Before going into the video, I want to address something really quickly. I try to be as transparent about my processes and influences as I possibly can, and I try to be as open and helpful as I can especially when others have questions. I say this all not to pat myself on the back, but because I believe that you’re walking on thin ice when your success and your profession relies on your ability to conceal your secrets. I do not believe that my own success should come at the expense of failing to help others progress. So if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask.
